2011 BMW X3 leaps from long-gone E46 3-series underpinnings to the more competent E90 platform. Even though BMW has yet to release full technical data for the 2011 X3, it is known that the new SUV is expected to grow in size while shrinking in weight. The new BMW X3 offers a choice of two ultra-modern power units.
The 2011 BMW X3 will offer more luggage space than any of its competitors as the boot capacity is 550 or 1600 liters with the rear seats folded and and motorization options at launch will include a 3.0-liter inline-six that produces 240 HP and 230 lb-ft of torque. This car is the first BMW X model with optional Damper Control and Dynamic Drive Control.
The four-cylinder diesel featured in the new BMW X3 xDrive20d develops a maximum power output of 135 kW/184 bhp, exceeding that of its predecessor by 5 kW. The new BMW X3 xDrive35i is powered by a 225 kW/306 bhp straight six-cylinder petrol engine.
